Case Study: Vox Media’s More Than This Podcast

Background: Vox Media’s branded content studio asked a crucial question: “How can we make our podcast accessible for people like you?” With inclusive storytelling as the North Star, our team crafted an immersive transcript for each episode using visual elements and without relying on audio to optimize storytelling.

Outcome: We created and successfully launched the first-ever Podcast for Non-Listening Audiences. This inclusive podcast transcript and visual elements pioneered the industry's first inclusive podcast tailored for non-listening audiences. With inclusive representation in mind, I conducted a focus group study with 5 Deaf community members to ensure that accessibility measures were effective for the target audience, working as they expected.
